Look what was on the side of the house this morning! Creepy walking stick. I messed around with Rob’s camera and came up with that picture. We’re so close to nature where we live. But it’s not really the nice nature, like song birds and deer. It’s the spiders the size of your hand nature. And that’s not fun when you find those spiders in your room. Or bathtub. Or kitchen. Or on the couch, watching TV and eating one of your roommates. Then there’s the mud dauber wasps we had on the front porch. I think we killed them, but I’m not going to be the one to poke at the nest with the end of the broom. There are a few cute things, like the quail family that lives in the area. Or the possums and raccoons we see occasionally. It’s mostly bugs though.
Anyway, long weekend ahead! Rob may be going home to help his parents with things. I’m gonna study like a mad person for my French Quiz. I started on the flash cards, they may work. I’m also going to take some time and organize some things that slipped through the initial organizing of the house. Like under the sinks in the bathroom. Or the pantry in the kitchen. I also have homework to do. Bleh
I’m working on some diagrams for the kimono section of the website. Mostly to just explain where things go and how stuff looks when worn. I’m doing kimono and juban diagrams right now. Maybe I’ll do maiko and geisha kimono diagrams. Those are a bit more complicated. I also think I may ask a few people to fact check what I have so far in the informational sections.
For Comp as Medium we have to keep a blog. What’s with combining blogging and education? I already have one for French. I suppose it’s a easier way to keep track of what we do. And it’s not as annoying as having to grade/carry 60 paper journals. Well, my Comp as Medium one can be found here. I rather like the layout I threw together. The French one can be found here, but there’s nothing in it right now.

My new favorite anime is now Mononoke. It’s a horror genre anime and has the same disjointed feel of the Grudge and other Japanese horror movies. Despite this, the plot is fluid and easy to follow. Presented in story arcs that span multiple episodes we follow the Medicine Seller (first picture) as he travels throughout Japan during the Edo era, selling medicine and hunting Mononoke, or demons. The second picture is of his alter form, which he changes into to destroy the Mononoke. The artwork is so beautiful! It reminds me a lot of Gankutsuou, but not as psychedelic. So far I’m on episode 5 and I’m head over heels. His lips are so deliciously interesting. I highly suggest people check it out.
So, starting a new week. Actually it started yesterday and I was too lazy to write anything.
Anyway, French class was actually nice yesterday. I reviewed the material before class and understood most of the stuff. I have a test on Wed of next week though. Not looking forward to that. I am going to make a lot of flash cards and study like crazy. Or at least that’s my goal, I don’t know if it’ll actually happen. Rob’s being very helpful, we keep talking about French and it stays in my mind.
Today is Women in Film again. I’m looking forward to it! I wonder what we’re going to be watching. I hope it’s good. Tomorrow is French again and Comp as Medium. I’ve got some homework to do for that class. Find a Flash animation I really like or dislike and critique it. I’ve run across some nice Flash work here and there, but I never bookmarked it so I have no idea where to find it again.
There is one site I’d like to do it on, but the Flash is not very fancy, so I don’t know how it will be received. Guess we’ll just have to see.
I’m trying to figure out my work schedule. Screw the morning commute! is my new motto. It’s so backed up on 50 that I can’t stand to sit there and waste time. Plus the car emissions. So that throws off what I’d like to work and what I can work. And there’s the 5 o’clock rush hour that I’d like to avoid too. So, ideally what I’d like to do is come in at 10 and work, go to class or whatever, come back and then work till 6. It’s still pretty bad at 6, so I’ll prolly go somewhere and hang out. That means I’ll also need to bring a lunch and dinner. Fun fun. Not really though. Does the pay outweigh the stress and wasted time? I don’t really know.
But here’s some Flash Gone Wrong. The pug’s eyes follow your cursor around, kinda cute. But should your cursor go up and off the screen, you get this creepy image. PetMeds is now sponsored by Umbrella Corporation.
