Minor updates

Today started with suck. I woke up depressed and didn’t get out of that funk for a while. My mom called and I sort of broke down about not having a job and my parent’s health insurance running out on me. She said I need to make a pest of myself, emailing the HR department directly about a week after filling out an online application. I’m just not good at that. I think I should be able to get a job on my merits rather than being the person who badgers them to give me a job. But, usually the people who go after things get what they want. I guess I’m not ambitious enough.

I took a look at my kimono collection and my gothic lolita clothes to see what I’d be willing to part with. There’s two, maybe three, kimono and one dress that could I bear selling. The kimono won’t sell for very much, but I could get a nice sum for the dress. If it comes to it, I can sell more valuable parts of my collection. Luckily kimono and lolita clothes don’t loose much value on the resale market.

Anyway, I’ve got to find something for my mom for both Mother’s day and her birthday. I have no clue what to get her. I think I’m going to check out Etsy because there’s always artsy and funky stuff there. Of course that doesn’t necessarily narrow it down, but it’s a start.

I’ve also updated Eelpoutart with a new-ish layout and some new items. I used me some PHP in that there navigation. I think I really need to sit my butt down and learn PHP. I learned CSS and HTML all by myself, so why not PHP as well?

Cake for my birthday

So, as you should know, my birthday is coming up this Thursday. I’m not really expecting much, but I really want a cake, cupcakes or a cheesecake. Essentially I want some sort of cake like dessert. I don’t think I want 23 candles though, that might melt the frosting. Anyway, I was surfing around and found this neat little gift idea: Cup a Cake Cupcake Holders. It’s a little plastic cupcake holder that protects the frosting from getting smooshed. They look like they’d be perfect for kid’s lunches. Anyway, it seemed like a cool idea, especially if you buy fancy gourmet cupcakes for certain people with upcoming birthdays. There are also a lot of unique gift ideas on that website.

Birthday soon!

This Thurs is my birthday! There aren’t really any plans and Rob’s working that night too. There’s a Cinco de Mayo party this weekend that we may attend, but I’m not sure. Also, one of my roommates is graduating this weekend! His boyfriend is flying down this Thurs from… Minnesota? Somewhere in the frozen north.

One of my roommates bought new couches for the house and we re-arranged the front room. I think it looks pretty good now, though I do need to organize my sewing table. It’s become more of a sewing storage station rather than a place to actually sew.

I dunno what to write really. I’ve applied to many places, but none have gotten back to me. I’ve done some crafting for MetroCon. I’ve also cleaned the house like a crazy person. I’m trying to put my time to more productive uses. It seems to be working a little.
