JACON Report
So, one word to describe JACON. Hot. And not hot in a good way. They moved to a new hotel, but it had the exact same issue: you had to walk outside, in the heat, to get from one building to the next. In the Artist Alley area it was hotter inside than outside. The dealer’s room was packed with stinky sweaty people. So, my assessment was correct that JACON has continued to decline.
On Friday we went so that Rob could scout out some photography locations and to pick up his badge. I wore a yukata and got quite a lot of compliments. I didn’t wear it long however, because it was too damn hot! And the yukata is the summer kimono, it’s only one layer of cotton and I was still incredibly hot.
Saturday wasn’t much better either. I pretty much spent the day sitting around people watching and chatting with Eddie. Rob didn’t have many photoshoots, but his camera was acting up so the photoshoots took longer than expected. I didn’t get to see him much.
I also went to lunch with some lolita ladies at a tea shop. The only bad part of that was we had to eat outside on the patio. It’s kinda hard to order tea at a tea house when it’s that hot outside. But I had a nice lunch and ordered a huge éclair for dessert. I swear it was a foot long! It looked like a giant chocolate covered sea slug. ![]()

o my! you look so darling in your kimono! I love how the turquoise blue contrasts beautifully with your hair color. It’s a brilliant pick!

That’s a beautiful yukata you have there.
I’m not sure how the weather makes a the quality of a con go down. The events and lineup will affect the quality of a con, yes, but to me, the weather is up to mother nature and event staff can’t be held responsible for it.

The weather really affects the con when inside the buildings is warmer than outside. It makes it hard to have fun or relax when it’s 90F inside! It’s just that Florida cons really have to keep the place cool - last year 2 people a the same con were taken away in ambulances for heat exhaustion.

The yukata looks so nice! And don’t be too jealous; Winter is coming here in the Southern Hemisphere!

This yukata looks amazing!
Too bad it was too hot though, so you couldn’t stay in it for long

Your yukata is gorgeous. Real pretty!
Haha, I love Choccie Eclairs. Dunno if I’d be able to handle a foot long one though. They get a little sickly after a while I think.

That yukata is gorgeous! Such a pretty color. I feel your pain with the heat, here it has been so hot! It feels like it’s boiling. It really sucks.

Wow, you look awesome in that Yukata. I would definitely not be able to deal with wearing that when it’s hot, so kudos to you!
