So I got back my inspiration to craft and sew yesterday! I bought some grosgrain ribbon and started to make hair bows in black and white. I added pearls to some of them too. I think they’re pretty damn cute! I have to back out and buy a thinner black ribbon though, so some of my projects are on hold. Rob suggested I try making some pink ones, but the pink ribbon just wasn’t the right shade of baby pink.
Anyway, JoAnn seems to rarely have fabric I want, so I have to turn to searching online for specialty fabrics. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find strawberries on a plain black background? Pretty hard! It’s also hard to find fabrics in elegant floral and toile patterns. I found this one site that sells some very beautiful discount fabrics. Right now they’re doing a promotion where the fabric with the most votes keeps getting cheaper by the second. You have to register to vote on the fabrics, but it’s a really great promotion and there’s a large selection from fashion fabrics to home dec fabrics and upholstery fabrics. This strawberry fabric :berry: is out of my price range, but if I could afford it, I’d re-upholster the leopard print chair my sister gave me.
This displays the current fabric that’s got the top votes.
On an unrelated note, I want to dye my hair again. Kelse told me to dye it RED again, but I don’t want it to be that RED right now. I would rather dye it a deep auburn. The only problem with that is that deep auburn on the box turns to deep purple in my hair. I think I look better with darker hair, it makes my eyes pop more than lighter hair.
Oh, and I’ve started learning PHP. Damned math! I can do calculus and advanced geometry but basic algebra? It’s like hitting myself in the head with a brick.
I got my birthday dress in the mail! It is so beautiful. It’s from the company Mary Magdalene, one of my favorite classic lolita companies. Like everything I own it’s third hand, but in wonderful condition. Also, I just noticed how much blue floral I own: two dresses and two skirts, making up half of my collection. Right now it’s hanging up and airing out because it smelled a little musty. Later I’ll take some pictures of me all dressed up.
One of the big trends in lolita fashion is super cute socks. There are girls who say they’ve got dozens upon dozens of socks in their collection. I’ve bought some cute socks before, but found they just didn’t suit me. I ended up giving them to Kelsey. Personally I prefer to wear tights due to the condition of the skin on my legs. Unfortunately there isn’t much variety when it comes to tights. They just don’t have the same cute patterns as most lolita socks do. The tights I use the most are black, white and off-white. Those go with just about every outfit I own.
I bought some new grosgrain ribbon and am trying to make some cute bows. I also went and re-applied at Jo Ann since they advertised that they were hiring again. I realy hope I hear back from someone about a job!

So, as you should know, my birthday is coming up this Thursday. I’m not really expecting much, but I really want a cake, cupcakes or a cheesecake. Essentially I want some sort of cake like dessert. I don’t think I want 23 candles though, that might melt the frosting. Anyway, I was surfing around and found this neat little gift idea: Cup a Cake Cupcake Holders. It’s a little plastic cupcake holder that protects the frosting from getting smooshed. They look like they’d be perfect for kid’s lunches. Anyway, it seemed like a cool idea, especially if you buy fancy gourmet cupcakes for certain people with upcoming birthdays. There are also a lot of unique gift ideas on that website.
