So, Rob started his new job last night! He works from essentially 6PM to 6AM. He got home early, at 5AM, last night. I really hope he enjoys, or rather, doesn’t hate this job. He’s a night person, so I really hope this works out. On the other hand, I’m still looking for a job. I’ve started to apply to a multitude of places online to see if anything comes up. Another big hope that I can get a job soon.
But since I don’t currently have a job, I’ve been making a lot of things for MetroCon. I plan to make at least one thing per day that I don’t have a job. That way, in the next few months I will have made quite a lot of stuff. I plan to take pictures of the beaded crowns tomorrow if the light is good.
Oh, and I bought something on Amazon but the seller is a asshat. I ordered it on the 14 of Jan, it was supposed to ship out the 22nd, but last night I received an email saying it wouldn’t ship for another 10 to 15 business days. Over a month to receive an item. If they didn’t have the damn thing in stock, they shouldn’t have listed it! So I told them to cancel and refund it. Now I have to buy it on eBay or someplace and hope it gets here in time.
This is kinda random, since I’d like to be sleeping right now but can’t. My mind is too busy. And I’ve run out of reading materials. I’m left reading Erich’s Time magazines and those are mostly filled with election crap.
Oh, and the previous post was protected so that my sister’s boyfriend, should he find this site, would not see the dress. I think she wants it to be a surprise for him.
So, I survived Thanksgiving with the family! It was pretty nice. We had a nice dinner with the parents, my sister, grama, sister’s boyfriend, Rob and me. I helped mom cook a little but she had most of it under control, so I just did minor things like stirring this, measuring that and opening the oven for the turkey. And grama cooked two delicious pies: chocolate and apple. I had both! Most of the weekend was spent just hanging out and watching movies.
I almost didn’t survive shopping though. Rob and I went to Best Buy at 4 AM to get in line for shopping. After about 30 minutes I started to feel really sick. I think it was a combination of waking up early, eating warm turkey, and standing out in the cold. I started to feel like I was going to throw up and Rob had to drive me to the CVS nearby. Luckily I didn’t get sick, and after a little white out of the cold I started to feel better. So, we went shopping at JCPenny’s since it was open at 5am. We did some shopping, and at around 7 Mom and my sister met up with us. We then did more shopping. Around 8 it felt like time to go home, so Rob, sister and I started to go home. I made them stop at Micheals ’cause I had a ton of coupons and I wanted to get some things. So, after 15 minutes of shopping I had my stuff and got in line to check out. AN HOUR LATER I was able to check out. Turns out that they had to enter every discount and every coupon by hand. It really sucked, especially since I wasn’t feeling too good. Rob and my sister wandered around the shopping center, so they weren’t too bored. After that we went home and I took a nap. Rob went back to Best Buy later that day. I felt a little bad that I forced us to leave earlier that morning.
All in all it was a good weekend. I got a few things for use right now and a few things for gifts. For use right now I got a little purse, a light jacket, a 2Gig USB thumb drive and some anime DVDs.
I put in my two weeks notice at work. I am quitting the 7th of December, the same day as my last exam.
Now this week will be spent frantically studying for my French exam! And taking vitamin C so hopefully I don’t get sick.
Yesterday was a day of really good things and not so good things. Let’s start with the good things. I got an A on my French midterm! She also handed out midterm reports, and I have an 89.6% in the class! Yay! I’m soooo happy! And when I got to my car to go home, there was a cute little tree frog on it. When I got home, Rob actually remembered to put my laundry in the dryer! He also weed whacked! Yay boyfriend! Now the bad things: Kaidra, my betta fish died. I started my period. It sucks. I had to present my posters in Comp as Medium. It went like this: “Explosions in Space. Shit blows up kind of movie.” Then the teacher and some student started to critique my text and I couldn’t have cared less. Then I left class.
I finished the data entry stuff for work. I kinda liked it, making Excel spreadsheets and data tables. But when introducing people in the office to new clients I’m just “Mallory, a Digital Media student”. At least he didn’t call me Valerie like he did a while ago, for a whole day. So, work is going well and all that. Having a little trouble with the company email. It keeps logging me out every 5 minutes or not letting me log in.
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve changed the layout of my website. I think I have all the bugs worked out. This one was made entirely by me! Except it uses a few brushes that I can’t remember where I got them. And I widgetized it! Not entirely, but I may make a similar one and completely widgetize that. I’m thinking of making Wordpress themes for download. Looking at the ones I have currently, would you want to download similar themes?
I’ve also noticed how starved for intellectual conversation I am. I listen to NPR in my car, and I find my self talking back to the radio. Rob’s nice to talk to, but some subjects that I like he doesn’t know much about. And I don’t get philosophy, so I can’t really have a discussion with him about something he likes. At least we have similar political views, that’s good. So, I find myself watching the History Channel, Discovery, Animal Planet and other such channels, hoping that they’ll have something new. Or I take my dad’s National Geographic and read the articles. There were two cool articles on the bog people in England (creepy pictures, be warned) and discoveries on zoonosis and where new bacteria/viruses are coming from. I love that stuff! Sometimes I regret not going into the sciences, because that stuff fascinates me. I really need to start reading up on PHP and spend spend time learning that.
