My Kimono

Furisode

This is my furisode. It’s the most expensive kimono in my collection. It is gradient died from a dusty pink on the shoulders to a deep pink on the ends of the sleeves and the hem. It has a butterfly (chou), sakura (cherry blossom) and higaki (fence) motifs. Gold foil highlights flowers and wings of the butterflies. I really need to get a better picture of it.

Tomesode

This is my tomesode. Along the hem it has a beautiful design of autumn leaves blowing in the wind. These are accented by gold and silver foil. There are five mon (crest), making this a very formal kimono.

Houmongi

This is actually my sister’s kimono, but I include it in my collection. It is a houmongi with a vibrant ume (plum blossom) motif.

Iromuji

My iromuji is a bright blue with a woven pampas grass motif. It is a beautiful, elegant and simple kimono.

Komon

I think this is my favorite out of all my kimono. Momiji (maple) leaves in blue and white cover it in a beautiful autumn design. It is accented with light pink and light blue outlines on some of the leaves. The inner lining is a pretty sky blue.

Komon

Another komon, this time a spring kimono. Sakura and pampas grass frolic over the fabric of this komon. The inner lining is a deep purple.

Komon

Another komon I adore. It is champagne with green highlights and a fan motif. A wave pattern is woven into the fabric, giving a wonderful texture.

Komon

One of my komons. This one features sakura flowers fluttering across the surface. The flowers are mostly white, but red, blue and purple flowers are scattered throughout the pattern.
